It takes the guess work out of trying to figure out what you need to get your pond up in running. If you're anything like me, I had no idea where to start. After doing a lot of research I found that the pond kits were the way to go if your novice or even if you are a little more experienced, they are a great way to begin.
The kits contain the pond liner, in a large variety of sizes, so you can fit them into any size area that you might be working with. They also come with the pump, the filter, skimmer all in the correct size to fit the gallon capacity of the size of the liner that comes with the kit size that you choose. The manufacturer figures this all out for you so you don't have to do the research yourself. They also contain all hoses, fittings and everything else along with step-by-step instructions that are pretty easy to follow. If I can follow them, anyone can. I found that Anjon Pond Kits are one of the better ones, they custom create their kits with better and stronger pumps, and you get more professional results for less money. Even the pros like using their kits. There are a lot of them out there so do your research.
Once you have decided to you want a koi pond or goldfish pond the first thing you need to determine is what size pond you want to build. Keep in mind most people that build a pond always wish that they had made it larger, so start bigger rather than smaller. Use a garden hose to layout the area that you want the pond to be, and you can use that as a guide to determine what size liner that you are going to need. Your liner needs to be about 2 feet larger in length and width on all pond sides than the actual pond area. This allows you room for landscaping and proper pond containment.
Once you have your pond up and running you won't believe how much enjoyment you'll get from it. If you're anything like me, you'll become addicted. They are so much fun and so relaxing, and a great hobby. So get started and Happy Ponding!!
